BOARDMAN-Norbert L. Thompson, 61, died Friday morning, September 6, 2013 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Norbert, affectionately known as "Norby" to his wife and "Norb" to his friends, was born April 25, 1952 in Youngstown, a son of the late Donald and Patricia (O'Brien) Thompson.
He attended Boardman High School and worked for many years in the fencing business. He has previously worked for Youngstown Fence, Estherlee Fence Company, Window World, and was currently working for Austintown Fence.
An outdoorsman, his interests including camping, canoeing, and he recently picked up the hobby of photography.
He leaves his wife of 19 years, the former Sharlene Harry, whom he married August 12, 1994; brother, Donald Thompson of Boardman; three step-daughters, Lorraine Long of Boardman, Julie Long of Struthers, and Jennifer (Jay) Harper of Hubbard; eight step-grandchildren, Timothy, Tyler, Taylor, Brandon, Justin, Jessica, Christopher, and Lindsey; and two nephews and a niece.
A memorial service will be held on Tuesday at 6 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 4 p.m. until 5:45 p.m., prior to the service.
