Nick Stamateris, 85, of Poland, OH, died Thursday morning, September 27, at Clare Bridge of Austintown.
Nick was born in Aliquippa, PA, a son of the late Harry and Helen Stamateris. He also is preceded in death by siblings George, Jim, Bess, and Alex Stamateris.
He was raised in Aliquippa and resided in New Jersey until moving here in 2003 with his late wife, the former Shirley D'Appolito.
Nick leaves three sons, John (Eileen) of Poland, Harry of Basking Ridge, NJ, and Matthew (Annemarie) of Bloomfield NJ; six grandchildren, Rachel, Sean, Alexandra, Jim, James, and Evan. He also is survived by sisters-in-law, Pearl, Dess, and Clare Stamateris; and brother-in-law, Joseph (Ligia) D'Appolito.
A United States Army Veteran, Nick was an artilleryman during the Korean War. He then graduated from Penn State and retired from Prudential Insurance Company.
Calling hours will be held Saturday from 4-6 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where a Prayer service will follow at 6PM.
