Poland - Neal E. Bruner, 92, died early Friday morning, January 19, 2018 at Trumbull Memorial Hospital.
Mr. Bruner was born July 19, 1925 in Volant, PA, a son of Frank and Gladys Brennamen Bruner.
He was a graduate of Colestock High School in Titusville, PA and attended Westminster College in New Wilmington, PA. Neal served in the United States Navy during World War II and was honorably discharged in 1946 with the rank of Seaman First Class. After being discharged, he relocated to New Castle, PA, where he lived until moving to Poland in 1961.
Mr. Bruner worked as a salesman and in management for both Banker's Life & Casualty and National Home Life, retiring at the age of 62. He was a member of the former Fairview Immanuel Baptist Church and most recently the Poland Village Baptist Church. Mr. Bruner was also a member of the Poland Masonic Lodge.
In his earlier years, he enjoyed bowling and golfing, and more recently enjoyed playing the dice game Farkle.
He leaves his wife of 70 years, the former Mary Ellen McIlwain, whom he married November 7, 1947; two sons, Christopher (Diana) Bruner of Boardman and Randolph Bruner of Cortland; two daughters, Edys (Dennis) Dyer of Berlin Center and Marsha (Stephen) Powell of Madison; brother, David (Darlene) Bruner of New Castle; eight grandchildren; and nine great-grandchildren.
In addition to his parents, Neal was preceded in death by his great-granddaughter, Julia Bruner.
There will be no calling hours. A private service was held for the family. Interment will be at Graceland Cemetery in New Castle.
