NAOMI R. GORDON âa�" 77 STRUTHERS âa�" Naomi R. Gordon, 77, of 551 Geneva Ave., died Sunday evening at her home with her loving family by her side. Mrs. Gordon was born August 12, 1929 in Struthers, a daughter of Stephen and Katherine Loftus Lavelle. She was a 1947 graduate of Ursuline High School. Prior to her marriage, she was employed at Truscon Steel. After returning to the workforce, she was a legal secretary for Commercial and Industrial Enterprises, Inc. Most recently, she was an executive secretary with the Youngstown Board of Education, retiring in 1995 after 18 years. Naomi is survived by her husband, Clyde Gordon, whom she married October 20, 1951, four daughters, Mary Beth (Dale) Gresko of Salem; Ann Kathryn (Mark) Stevens of Struthers; Dr. Patricia (Dr. Robert Tamburro) Gordon of Elizabethtown, PA; and Susan Gordon of Youngstown; and by two sons, William (Margaret) Gordon of Peninsula; and Matthew (Joan) Gordon of Canfield. In addition, she is survived by her sister, Betty Lavelle, and her brother, James Lavelle, both of New Middletown. She will be sadly missed by her 11 grandchildren, Brian and Daniel Stevens; Robert, Margaret and Clyde Tamburro; Alexander, Megan, Madison, and Kathryn Gordon; and Madelyn and Louis Gordon. Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by three sisters, Kathleen Hodges, Mary Lou Cahill and Rita Norene Lavelle, and by one brother, Stephen Lavelle. Family and friends may call from 5-8 Wednesday at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, where prayer services will be held Thursday at 9:30 am. Mass of Christian Burial will be held Thursday at 10:00 am at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers, where she had been a life-long member. Father Martin Celuch will officiate. Interment will follow at St. Johnâa�a��s Cemetery. The family gratefully acknowledges the care she received from her physician, Dr. Kathie Nelson; her home care nurse, Michelle; and her Hospice of the Valley Nurse, Emma. Memorial contributions may be given in Mrs. Gordonâa�a��s name to St. Jude Childrenâa�a��s Research Hospital, 332 North Lauderdale Street, Memphis, TN 38105.
