Nancy McCloud Yerian, age 60 of 20 Poland Manor, Poland, OH passed away on March 17th in Boca Raton, FL of Amyotrophic Lateral Sclerosis. Born November 7th, 1943, in Columbus, Ohio, daughter of Smith Newton and Virginia Colgan McCloud, she was a graduate of Columbus School for Girls, Bradford Junior College, Bradford, Massachusetts and The Ohio State University where she was a member of Kappa Kappa Gamma Sorority and was awarded her degree in Elementary Education. She was a lifetime member of Pi Lambda Theta âa�" a national honor and professional association in education. She married John H. (Jay) Yerian, Jr. on August 19th, 1967, at the Broad Street Presbyterian Church in Columbus, Ohio. After moving to Youngstown in 1969, she became actively involved in her community. She was a dedicated member of Poland Presbyterian Church where she served for 14 years as the chairwoman of the Membership Committee. She was a charter member of the Logos Steering Committee and for many years was a teacher for the Logos Youth Program and for Senior High Ministries. She was a member of the Womanâa�a��s Board at Western Reserve Care System for 26 years. She founded and was Chairwoman of the Tod Squad Committee for Tod Childrenâa�a��s Hospital where she was instrumental in the creation of the Tod Therapeutic Playground for hospital children, the Child Life Department and the Ronald McDonald House, formerly known as the Tod Parent House. She was also a member of The Junior League of Youngstown, Poland Village Gardeners, Youngstown Symphony Guild, The Friends of Fellows Riverside Gardens, Trustees Circle at The Butler Institute of American Art and the Youngstown Country Club. Nancy was a loving wife, mother and grandmother and enjoyed spending time with family and friends at Pine Lake Trout Club, Rockwell Springs Trout Club and The Duquesne Hunting and Fishing Club on Duquesne Island in Britt, Ontario. She also loved her winter sojourns to The Sea Club in Hillsboro Beach, Florida and her weekly lunches and afternoons with her granddaughter. She is survived by her husband, her son John III, daughter Kelsey, daughter-in-law Louise Laird Yerian, sister Molly Parry (Dick) and two grandchildren Hallie and John Peter. She was preceded in death by her parents and her brother, Newton McCloud. Friends may call on Wednesday from 4-7pm and on Thursday from 9:30-10:30am at Poland Presbyterian Church.
