Beaver Falls, PA - Nancy H. (Alagy) Thompson, 87, died February 10, 2024.
Nancy was born on January 4, 1937 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of Michael and Mary (Evankovich) Alagy.
A 1954 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School, she attended the Ohio State University and received her Bachelor's Degree in Education from Youngstown State University. Her proudest achievement was receiving her Registered Nurse Degree from St. Elizabeth School of Nursing.
Nancy began her nursing career at St. Elizabeth Hospital and then worked as a social worker for Mahoning County Children and Family Services. She later worked as a nursing instructor for Choffin Career Center and the Washington School of Nursing, as the Director of Nursing for Humbert Lane Skilled Nursing Home, and retired from the Beaver County Office on Aging.
When living in Ohio, she was a member of St. Columba Cathedral and the First Unitarian Church. Most recently, she was a member of Holy Redeemer Church in Ellwood City, PA and watched Mass on TV when she couldn't attend in person. Nancy enjoyed cooking and baking, taking care of her home, and watching her favorite cooking and travel shows, black and white movies, and Formula 1 Racing.
She is survived by her husband, Richard Thompson, whom she married June 20, 1981; her son, Mark Nocera of Austintown, OH; sisters, Janet Rich of Campbell, OH and Patricia Budak of Austin, TX; nieces, Regina Parsons, Renee Wilush, Mary Lanzo, Kimberly (Michael) Rescineto, and Ilyanna Kadich; nephews, Stanley (Chris) Tofil, Carl Michael Rich, Frank (Christine) Budak, and Christopher (Dr. Lisa Newell) Budak; and several great-nieces and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by siblings, Mary Jean Tofil and Michael John Alagy; brother-in-law, Carl Rich; nephews, Patrick Wilush, David Parsons, and Donald Lanzo; and great-niece, Wendy Jackson.
Family and friends will be received on Thursday from 4-6 p.m. and Friday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, OH. A funeral service will be held on Friday at 11 a.m. at the funeral home, followed by interment at St. John the Baptist Cemetery.
