STRUTHERS - Nancy Jean Macovitz, 73, died Saturday, Oct. 3, 2009, at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman surrounded by her family.
Mrs. Macovitz was born May 22, 1936 in Youngstown, a daughter of Paul and Helen McCarty Shaley.
She attended The Rayen School and was a member of the former Brownlee Woods Presbyterian Church. Mrs. Macovitz loved baking kolachi and other types of breads. She enjoyed spending time with her family and will be sadly missed by all who knew her.
She is survived by one daughter, Cathy (Paul) Polito of Poland; one son, Paul Macovitz Jr. of Long Beach, Calif.; a sister, Sandy Matricardi of Boardman; and two grandchildren, Ryan and Luke Polito, both of Poland.
Besides her parents, she was preceded in death by her beloved cat, Matilda.
The family would like to thank Dr. Alex Vrable and his nurses, the nurses at the Greenbriar, Dr. DeMarco and the nurses at St. Elizabeth Health Center in Boardman, Dr. Antonine Chahine and his nurses at the Blood and Cancer Center, and Hospice of the Valley.
Family and friends will be received Wednesday from 10 to 10:45 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, where memorial services will be held at 11 a.m.
Memorial contributions may be made in Nancy¹s name to Hospice of the Valley, 5190 Market St., Boardman, OH 44512.
