NILES- Myrtle E. Mendenhall, 92, formerly of Morrison Street in Struthers, died Saturday evening, July 16, 2011 at Shepherd of the Valley in Niles.
Mrs. Mendenhall was born May 30, 1919 in Parkersburg, West Virginia.
During World War II, Mrs. Mendenhall worked for Truscon welding tank treads and was a homemaker. She was a member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church and its Fireside Sunday School Class. She volunteered many years baking cakes and serving lunch to the Struthers Rotary Club at their weekly meetings. Mrs. Mendenhall enjoyed cooking and sewing.
Her husband, Raymond Mendenhall, whom she married May 31, 1941, died December 22, 2007. She is survived by two daughters, Karen Morlan of Crystal River, FL and Rae Ellen (Robert) Day of Austintown; son, Richard Mendenhall of Poland; 8 grandchildren, Kim (Steve) Gill, Ben (Candy) Day, Jeremy Day, Heather Day, Richie (Naomi) Mendenhall, George (Beth) Norris, Sarah Mendenhall, and David Mendenhall; and 7 great-grandchildren; Kaitlyn and Kyle Gill, Sabrina and Cody Day, Onyx and Cadence Mendenhall, and Sophie Norris.
In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her brother, Jim; and two sisters, Helen and Mae.
Services will be held Wednesday at 11a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
