Canfield - Muriel Mary Roth, 88, formerly of New Jersey, died Saturday afternoon, June 29, 2013 at her residence.
Muriel was born January 5, 1925 in Tenafly, NJ, a daughter of the late Ernest and Elizabeth "Lillian" Marshall McDonald. Moving from New Jersey, Muriel has lived in the Youngstown area for 24 years.
She was a graduate of Tenafly High School in New Jersey. Muriel worked for the telephone company in New Jersey and later she and her husband Roy, owned and operated a local greenhouse in Bergen County, New Jersey. For many years Muriel spent her winters in Plant City, Florida. She was an avid golfer and for over 24 years was a member of the Fonderlac Club now the Lake Club where she golfed regularly with her golfing buddies. Muriel always had a green thumb and she loved to garden and watch the hummingbirds in her back yard.
Muriel was preceded in death by her first husband, Roy Roth, and her longtime companion, David Haney who brought her to this area after meeting each other in Florida. She is survived by her brother, Vincent McDonald of Laughlin, NV; niece, Kathleen McDonald; nephew, Scott McDonald; four great nephews and one great niece. She also leaves her "adopted" Youngstown families, whom loved and cared for her throughout her stay in the area; Cindy (Frank) Lanterman and family, Wendy (Bob) Barney and family, Audrey (Richard) Rhinehart and family, Geraldine (Ronald) Banks and family; ten grandchildren and fourteen great-grandchildren, who loved her dearly.
Muriel will be sadly missed by her friends and family, especially Cindy and Wendy who took such good care of her throughout her illness.
There will be no calling hours or funeral services. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
