Muriel B. Guappone, 90, died September 18, 2016 at Rockynol Assisted Living in Akron.
Mrs. Guappone was born March 9, 1926 in Manchester, England, a daughter of Harry and Emily Reed Webb.
Her husband, Salvadore, whom she married Oct. 13, 1945, died Feb. 8, 2008.
Muriel was a homemaker and a longtime member of Holy Family Church. Muriel and Salvadore met in England during WWII and after a brief romance were married there. She boarded a war ship along with a thousand other war brides to sail to America to begin her new life. Muriel and Salvador raised four wonderful children. They loved to dance to Big Band music. Muriel was Sal’s number one supporter and fan through decades of coaching high school sports.
Muriel is survived by one daughter, Lori (Rob) Becker of Columbus; three sons, M. Dennis (Gayle Turner) Guappone of Wayland, MA, Craig (Melissa Blyth)Guappone of Norton, and Kenneth (Gary Wilson) Guappone of Portland, OR; and five grandchildren, Cara, Michael, Kristen, David (Amy Long), and Brian; and great-grandchildren, Michael and Paul. She also leaves Barbara Guappone.
A prayer service will be held Thursday at 11:30AM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at Holy Family Church at 12:00 PM with Msgr. David Rhodes officiating. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received Thursday from 9:30AM-11:30AM at the funeral home.
