Mr. William C Fassos

North Lima-William C. Fassos, 87, died on Thursday, January 29, 2015 in St. Elizabeth Health Care Center in Boardman. He was born on July 16, 1927 in Springfield, OH and was a graduate of Mansfield Sr. High School.

Bill proudly served in the United States Navy during WWII. He continued to serve as a SeaBee with the United States Naval Reserve for 40 years, retiring as a Command Senior Chief Petty Officer. He was employed as a line supervisor with Ohio Edison for 40 years, retiring in 1987. Bill and his wife Betty attended St. Charles Catholic Church in Boardman. He was a member of Argus Lodge #545 F & AM of Ohio, Royal Arch Masons of Ohio Youngstown District, Aut Mori Grotto 451361 of Youngstown, St. John's Commandry #20, Buechner Council #107 in Youngstown, Al Koran Shrine in Cleveland, Youngstown Shrine Club, Youngstown Men's Garden Club, Knight's Templar of Youngstown, American Legion Post #290 in Columbiana and VFW Post #3538 in Struthers.

He was an avid golfer who once shot a hole-in-one and played in several golf leagues. Bill had a green thumb. Gardening was his passion. bill and his family spent many hours together, working in his garden. His beautiful flowers and hearty vegetables were admired and enjoyed by all. Bill also enjoyed making wine and attending Masonic meetings.

He leaves his loving and devoted wife of 63 years, Betty Fassos; four children and their spouses, Christopher A. and Connie Fassos of Lorain, Diana L. and Joe Zidian of Canfield, William J. and Kim Fassos of Alliance and Susan L. and Bob Bole of Boardman; 10 grandchildren, Christopher Fassos, Jennifer Fassos, Michelle (Greg) Faunda, Kelly (Ron) Weeks, Joey Zidian, Rob Bole, Brianna (Scott) McIlvain, David (Megan) Zidian, Jacci (Seth) Mothersbaugh, and Karli Fassos; 10 great-grandchildren; his sister Alice (Robert) Creamer of Mechanicsburg, OH. and several nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Christos T. Fassos; his mother, Maude Roth; a grandson, Scott Fassos; and two sisters, Rena McMillan and Peggy Fanello.

Visitation will be Monday from 6-8pm at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. Boardman, with a Masonic Service at 5:30pm. Funeral services will be Tuesday at 11am in the funeral home with visitation from 10-10:45am. Burial will follow in Forest Lawn Memorial Park.

The family requests that any donations be made, in his name, to the Salvation Army or to the Men's Garden Club of Youngstown.
