Mr. Warren E. Wellendorf

November 3, 1925 — July 9, 2013

Warren E. Wellendorf, 87, of Poland passed away Tuesday morning at his residence in the presence of his family.

Warren was born November 3, 1925 in Youngstown, a son of the late Tod and Helen Seifert Wellendorf, and was a lifelong area resident. He was a 1942 graduate of South High School and served in the National Guard during the 1940's.

A proud lifetime Teamster member, Warren was employed for forty years as an owner/operator with Youngstown Cartage Company. He ended his career as a Business Agent and Trustee of Teamster's Local 377, retiring in 1987. Warren was a member of the Youngstown Crime Clinic, the Saxon Club, the Lowellville Rod & Gun Club, and the ROMEOS dinner club, where he enjoyed the company of his long-time friends every Monday night.

Warren enjoyed spending time in Florida and traveling the US with his wife, in-laws and friends. Two memorable trips to Italy with his lifelong buddy Sam were among his favorite adventures. Most often described as "a gentleman's gentleman", Warren's kind spirit, fun-loving attitude and generosity will remain as his legacy.

Warren leaves his loving wife, the former Margaret Heban, whom he married September 4, 1948; two daughters, Linda Wellendorf of Poland and Marilyn (Sam) Bowlin of York, SC; one son, Gary Wellendorf of Youngstown; five grandsons, Paul (Abby) Lucas of MD, Patrick (Rhiannon) Lucas of Austintown, Nicholas (Stacey) Lucas of Youngstown, John Wellendorf of Villanova, PA, and Jason Wellendorf of New Concord, OH; and seven great-grandchildren.

Family and friends may call today from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland, and from 9:15 AM to 9:45 AM Saturday at St. Anthony of Padua Church, where a mass of Christian burial will be held at 10:00 AM with the Rev. Fr. Michael Swierz officiating.

In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be made to CreativeBridge Coalition (providing music programs to special-needs children), 105 Javit Ct., Youngstown, Ohio, 44515, or to St. Joseph the Provider School, 1125 Turin Avenue, Youngstown, Ohio, 44501.
