Memorial Services will be held Friday, 11:00 a.m. at Davis-Becker Funeral Home in Boardman for Rebekah "Becky" McBride Ziegler formerly of Boardman. She passed away Dec. 12, 2013 at her home in Punta Gorda.
Mrs. Ziegler was born Feb. 14, 1941 in Youngstown a daughter of Leland J. and Gertrude Smith McBride.
She was a 1959 graduate of Lowellville High School and received her bachelor's degree and master's degree from Westminster College. She was a Title One reading teacher at South Range Local Schools for 25 years, having previously taught at Boardman Local School.
She was a member of the First United Methodist Church of Punta Gorda and past co-chairman of the Guthrie-Stinson Circle. Previously she was a member of The Boardman United Methodist Church. She was also a member and past president of the Mahoning Chapter of the Reserve Officers Association Ladies, a member of Mahoning and Ohio Retired Teachers Association, and of the Deep Creek Divas Red Hat Club, and a Martha Jennings Scholar during the 1978-79 school year.
She loved to dance at the Cultural Center in Port Charlotte, and Gilchrist Park and the Elks in Punta Gorda, Florida.
She is survived by her husband, Dr. L. David Ziegler of Punta Gorda and several cousins. A son, David J. Ziegler is deceased.
