AUSTINTOWN - Carolyn Jane Herbert, 68, passed away Tuesday, May 28, 2014, at her home following a long illness.
Carolyn was born in Youngstown, Oct. 12, 1945, the daughter of the late Robert G. and Jane Louise (Orr) Mayer.
She grew up in Boardman and was a 1963 graduate of Boardman High School.
After graduation, she worked for McKay Machine before taking time to be at home with her children. Once her children were grown, she worked for Hallmark and the Metropolitan Bank, later First National Bank.
Carolyn¹s joy was her family. She married her husband, David T. Herbert Jr.
on Aug. 28, 1965, and they have had 49 wonderful years together. In addition to her husband, she leaves to cherish her memory, three children, Jennifer Lake and her husband Dean of Hamilton; MSG David R. and his wife, Giselle of Clarksville, Tenn. and Julie Jones and her husband, John of Austintown. She leaves three grandchildren, which were her pride and constant source of joy, Austin and Emma Lake, and Christina Herbert. Carolyn will also be remembered by her brother, Robert G. Mayer Jr. of Pittsburgh; as well as several cousins.
The family wishes to thank Dr. Robert Debernardo and his staff at the Cleveland Clinic and University Hospital, Dr. Anthony Lattanzio and his staff, and the caretakers from Hospice of the Valley for their care and compassion with all of her needs.
Friends will be received from 6 to 7 p.m. on Friday, May 30, 2014, at the
Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street, Boardman with a service to immediately follow.
