Services will be held Monday, 12:00 pm at Davis Becker Funeral Home for Mildred R. Metzger, 98. She passed away Thursday morning at Shepherd of the Valley, Boardman.

Born in New Castle, Pa. January 16, 1915, Mildred was the daughter of George and Ella (Holderreed) Hench and moved to Youngstown as a young child.
She graduated South High School and attended Youngstown College and worked at Strouss Hershberg before joining her husband at military locations during the war years.
She was an active member of Foster Memorial Presbyterian Church until its closing and then transferred to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church. She was a long-time member of (federated) Sekulta Club and Christian Women's Organization. She was a wonderful homemaker and cook-hosting many family get-together's. She enjoyed reading, music and traveling. We were all very fortunate to have her with us for so long.
She lived in the Cornersburg area for years, moving to Boardman in 1966--where she spent time enjoying her wild flower garden developed by her husband, David R. Metzger, founder and president of Terrace Gardens Nursery, Inc. They were married June 7, 1941 and he died March 2, 1977.
She leaves her daughter, Diane (Charles) Rudge, her grandson Charles (Michelle) Rudge, III and great-grandchildren, Brayden and Adelynn who affectionately knew her as their "Gramma Millie". She also leaves nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, sisters Ruth Kerr and Jean Morgan.

Friends may call Monday one hour prior to the service at the funeral home, 8536 Market St., Boardman.

Material tributes may take the form of contributions to Pleasant Grove Presbyterian Church, 3919 Southern Blvd., Youngstown, OH 44512
