Mildred "Sis" Adams

BOARDMAN- Mildred Constance Adams, 84, formerly of Boardman and Newton Falls, died Monday evening at Beeghly Oaks Nursing Home.

Mildred, affectionately known as "Sis" by her family was born May 20, 1928 in Youngstown, a daughter of George and Mildred Olga (Froman) Snyder.

Mrs. Adams was a 1946 graduate of Boardman High School and attended Youngstown State University. She received paralegal training in Washington D.C.

Upon graduation, she worked for Republic Steel in the accounting department until 1965, then for St. Elizabeth Hospital from 1965 until 1969 as a private secretary to Sister Mary Carl, and last as a paralegal for Northeast Ohio Legal Services from 1969 until her retirement in 1982.
She was a member of Messiah Lutheran Church in Newton Falls and a former member of Good Hope Lutheran Church in Boardman.

Sis enjoyed cooking, making things for others, and writing poems, winning several contests for doing so. She was a caring and loving person, always trying to help someone when in need. Mrs. Adams helped hundreds of people with monies and groceries when she worked for legal aids and was recognized by the Vindicator for her good works.

Her husband, Gordon W. Adams, preceded her in death. She leaves her two sisters, Judith (Roy) Weber of Berlin Center and Maybelle DeMore of Aubrey, TX; brother, George (Marie) Snyder of Pulaski, PA; step-son, Chester Adams of Conneaut; two grandchildren, Thomas Shane Adams, whom she raised, of Champion and Shiana Kathleen Barbosa, of North Carolina; and eight great-grandchildren, Samie, Shaina, Thomas Jr., Anthony, Mercy, Austin, Briana, and Taylor; 35 nieces and nephews; and 45 great nieces and great nephews.

In addition to her parents and husband, she was preceded in death by her son, Thomas Anthony Adams; four sisters, Irma, Shirley, and Dorothy Snyder, and Sally Neiman; and three brothers, Harold, Belford, and Frank Snyder.

Funeral services will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, Boardman, with Pastor David A. Genszler officiating.

Family and friends will be received Friday from 6-8:30 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will be at Forest Lawn Memorial Park.
