Michael R. Verostko Sr

Lowellville - Michael R. Verostko, Sr., 77, died Friday, May 31, 2013 at the Hospice House.

Mr. Verostko was born September 9, 1935, in Youngstown, a son of Joseph and Christine Bohla Verostko.

He was a 1953 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a veteran of the United States Army. Mr. Verostko worked as a route salesman for Penn Ohio Towel for 39 years, retiring in 1993 and was a retired Teamster. After retirement, he worked in security for BFI and as a ranger for Bedford Trails Golf Course.

Mike was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville, and formerly its Men's Group and the Holy Rosary Golf League. For many years, Mike served as a Cub Scout Scout Master and Boy Scout Troop Leader in Lowellville and St. Dominic's in Youngstown. In his spare time, he enjoyed hunting and was an avid outdoorsman.

His wife, the former Angela M. Nolfi, whom he married January 17,1959, died January 5, 2013. Mr. Verostko was a dedicated family man and husband to his wife of almost 54 years, especially the last twelve years through her illness.

Mr. Verostko is survived by his daughter, Justine (Jonathan Bryan) Verostko of Youngstown; three sons, Joseph (Susan) Verostko of Hubbard, Michael Verostko Jr. of Lowellville, and Peter (fiancée Kelly Eddy) Verostko of Boardman; four grandchildren, Angela, Mark, Julie, and Joey Verostko; three brothers-in-law, Donald (Donna) Nolfi, Fred (Rosalie) Nolfi, both of Lowellville, and Frank (Pam) Nolfi of Poland; and four sisters-in-law, Celia Conti, Rita Nolfi, both of Lowellville, Fran Verostko of Cleveland, and Neva Nolfi of Girard; and many nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents and wife, he was preceded in death by his brother, Richard Verostko; and three brothers-in-law, Ralph Conti, Tony Nolfi, Pete Nolfi and his first wife, Nancy; and two nephews, Peter and Fred Nolfi.

A prayer service will be held Wednesday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church with Fr. John Jerek officiating. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
