Boardman - Michael Anthony Slifka, 63, of Boardman, died Sunday morning, September 25, 2011 at the Hospice House after an 8 month illness.
Mike was born January 4, 1948 in Youngstown, a son of John and Rose Marchese Slifka.
He was a 1966 graduate of Ursuline High School and received his associate degree from Youngstown State University. Mike worked as a truck driver and trainer for Falcon Transportation for over 25 years.
He enjoyed playing sports and was active in several volleyball, softball, and tennis leagues. Mike was an animal lover and enjoyed spending time with his dogs.
In addition to his father, John of Liberty, he leaves his wife, the former Terri Kabo, whom he married February 17, 1994; two daughters, Ann Slifka and Kara Nelson; son, Daniel Nelson; two sisters, Delores (Jack) Sullivan of Liberty and Susan (Ray) Pelyhes of Youngstown; brother, Martin Slifka of Warren; and his beloved dogs, Hayden and Maggie.
He was preceded in death by his mother, Rose.
A memorial service will be held Saturday at 6:30 p.m. at St. Rose Church, 48 E. Main St., Girard.
