New Castle - Michael Francis Capan, 76 of Hickory View Drive, died Sunday morning, April 12, 2009 at the Hospice House, after a courageous battle with lung cancer. Mr. Capan was born March 26, 1933 in Carbon, PA, a son of John and Catherine Sculac Capan. He was a 1951 graduate of Bessemer High School, and was a U.S. Army Veteran. Mr. Capan was a member of the Victory Christian Center and worked for Carbon Limestone for over 40 years, and Gennaro Pavers as a high lift operator, retiring in 1998. He loved hunting, fishing, gardening and repairing motors. He was a member of the Croatian Club in Bessemer. He is survived by his wife of 48 years, the former Mildred Ogden, whom he married June 23, 1960, one brother, Pete (Mary Jane) Capan of Lowellville, two sisters, Rose Grimm and Mary (Nick) Novello both of Struthers, and numerous nieces and nephews. Besides his parents, Mr. Capan was preceded in death by four brothers, John, Joe, Frank and Steve Capan, two sisters, Ann Lingel, andCaroline Cicuto, and a brother-in-law, George Grimm . Family and friends will be recieved Wednesday from 5-8 at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where funeral services will be held, Thursday at 10:30 AM.
