Micah Reid Harris, 21 Poland- Micah Reid Harris, 21, of 3073 Southwind Trail died Friday afternoon due to complications from an automobile accident near Richmond, Virginia. Mr. Harris was born September 28, 1982 in St. Louis, Missouri, the second son of Richard and Diane Lloyd Harris. In 1993 his family moved to Ohio and to Poland in 1995. He was residing in Durham, North Carolina where he had completed his junior year majoring in psychology at Duke University. He was a 2001 graduate of Poland Seminary High School serving as Captain of the Poland Bulldogs basketball team and football team where he was a three year starter as linebacker and tight end. His junior year, he was part of the Bulldogs football team that won the Division III State Championship. For his football accomplishments, he received many honors, including being named First Team All Ohio, First Team Northeast Ohio and First Team All Mac Conference. As a senior, he was invited to participate in both the Ohio North South Allstar Game in Columbus and the Big 33 Game in Hershey, PA. He received a full football scholarship to Duke University where he was a 2 year starter for the Blue Devils and slated to start again this season as a defensive end. Mr. Harris was a member of the Poland Presbyterian Church and was active in the Leadership Club of the Poland Seminary High School. Besides his parents of Poland, he leaves two brothers, Lt. Adam Quentin Harris of Fort Stewart, Georgia and Neil Alexander of Erie, Pennsylvania where he attends Mercyhurst College on a football scholarship; maternal grandmother, Janet H. Lloyd of St. Louis, Missouri; paternal grandfather, Ernest A. Harris of Rolla, Missouri; one aunt, Jill A. Lloyd of St. Louis; one uncle, Donald J. (Sara) Lloyd of Chicago, Illinois; and four cousins, Patrick, Emily, Madeline and Blake Lloyd. His maternal grandfather, Donald R. Lloyd, paternal grandmother, Ruby P. Harris and cousin, Jessica Lloyd Wright preceded him in death. Funeral services will be Saturday, 10:30 a.m. at the Poland Seminary High School Field House. Friends may call Friday, from 4:00 p.m. until 8:00 p.m. Friday at the Poland Presbyterian Church. In lieu of flowers, the family request memorial contributions be made to the Class of 2001 Micah Harris Memorial Scholarship Fund, P.O. Box 5437, Poland, Ohio, 44514. Arrangements are being handled by the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland.
