Merle G. Secrest

d. August 31, 2014

Lowellville - Local businessman, Merle G. Secrest, passed away into the arms of God. He owned M&R Leasing Inc., Salem Honda, The Honda Barn, and Twin Pines Farm. He farmed and raised Paso Fino Horses, one of which he made a "Grand National Champion." He was hard working and loved to enjoy himself.

He loved driving his motor home, boating, camping and family get togethers. He loved watching football, the Cleveland Browns, but most of all he loved his church, Our Lady of the Holy Rosary. He had keys and opened for morning Mass, helped with readings and candles, said the Rosary, and received the Sacrament.

Merle loved the outdoors, built a beautiful lake and spent hours on his mower. Merle was an exceptional man, he knew how to make people laugh. He will be terribly missed by those he leaves behind. A son, Richard, a daughter, Debra, several grandchildren and great-grandchildren and two brothers, Donnie and Jim. But most of all he will be missed by his wife, Theresa. They worked side by side since 1969. They played hard, and prayed hard during his illnesses. He held on tight to his faith, but is in a far better place.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated Wednesday at 11 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, where family and friends may call from 9 a.m. until 10:45 a.m., prior to the Mass. Entombment will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery.

The family suggests that any memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Merle's name to Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church, 131 E. Wood St., Lowellville, Ohio 44436.

A special thank you to Hospice Independence, Katie Wagner, and Ricky Secrest for the wonderful care and support they gave to Merle over the last several months.
