Merle E. Miller, 87
YOUNGSTOWN Services will be held Saturday, at 11 a.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home for Merle E. Miller, 87. He passed away Tuesday morning at Hospice House.
Mr. Miller was born Nov. 2, 1925, in Youngstown, a son of Christian R. and Ida Mae Ipe Miller.
He was a partner in the family business, C.R. Miller and Sons Plumbing and Heating in Youngstown.
Merle was a member and deacon at the Calvary Baptist Church, a member of Wick Lodge F.&A.M. No. 481, and a member of Plumbers and Steamfitters Local No. 396.
He was a veteran serving during World War II with the U.S. Navy. His first ship, the USS Meredith, hit a mine in Normandy in 1942. He later served as a radio man, first class on the USS Compton.
Merle loved spending time with his family, bowling, and fishing.
Surviving him are his wife and high school sweetheart, the former Betty Lou Bishop, whom he married April 28, 1948; three sons, James (Nanci) Miller of Fowler, Jerry (Jenifer) Miller of Boardman and Chris Miller of Youngstown; a daughter, Susan (Mark) McConnell of Boardman; 13 grandchildren; and 14 great-grandchildren.
Also surviving are a brother, Scott F. Miller of Youngstown and a sister, Orlene Eastlick of Florida.
Preceding him in death were his parents; a sister, Nora Jean Gibboney; a brother, Christian C. Miller; and his special feline companion, Tom.
Friends may call Friday from 5 to 7 p.m. and Saturday from 10 to
10:45 a.m. at the Davis Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St. in Boardman.
Masonic services will be held Friday at 7 p.m. at the Davis Becker Funeral Home.
