Austintown - Melinda C. Johnson, died Friday afternoon, March 10, 2017 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center after a short illness.

Melinda, affectionately known by family and friends as "Mindy," was born July 5, 1955 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Phil and Joyce Pitts Hunter.

Raised in Austintown, Mindy was a 1973 graduate of Austintown Fitch High School and attended Kent State University and Youngstown State University. For over 30 years, she worked for the accounting firm Anness, Gerlach & Williams in Boardman, retiring in 2010.

Mindy centered her life around her family and home. She lived for them and there is nothing she loved more than being a wife and mother. She will always be remembered for her bubbly and sweet personality, kind heart, and her way of making everyone feel special and loved.

In her free time, she loved watching her favorite TV show, Dancing With the Stars, listening to all genres of music, spending time with her fur grand babies, and going to the dog park.

Mindy is survived by her husband, James G. Johnson, whom she married February 11, 1978; her twin children, Kevin Johnson of Kettering and Lauren (fiance Vince Rotunno) Johnson of Austintown; brother, Jim (Debbie) Hunter of Austintown; sister-in-law, Darlene Johnson of Poland; and her fur grand babies, Harley the German Shepherd and Jasper the cat.

Family and friends will be received on Monday from 11 a.m. until 12:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland. A funeral service will follow on Monday at 1 p.m. at the funeral home. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
