Youngstown - Mary Jane Baker, 93, died Monday, October 23, 2017 at Meridian Arms.

Mary Jane was born September 26, 1924 in Youngstown, a daughter of Samuel and Minnie (Meltz) Jones.

Raised in Youngstown, Mary Jane attended The Rayen School. Prior to her marriage, she worked at McKelvey's in downtown Younsgtown. On February 26, 1949, she married Charles A. She was employed by Blue Ribbon Dry Cleaners in Liberty, retiring in 1999 after 17 years.

She was a longtime member of the Struthers Presbyterian Church, which is now Struthers Parkside Church. Mary Jane enjoyed meeting monthly with her New Middletown Women's Group, making crafts and playing cards. In her free time, she also loved to read, do word searches, play the slot machines on casino trips, relaxing on the front porch, but especially enjoyed spending time with her family.

Mary Jane was preceded in death by her husband, Charles, on July 27, 1999. She is survived by her four children, Ron (Paula) Baker of Mentor, Gloria Jean Yaksich of Youngstown, Gary (Karen) Baker Sr. of Struthers, and Gwendolyn (Bob) Chaibi of Youngstown, with whom Mary Jane made her home the last two years; two sisters-in-law, Lola Ackworth of Hubbard and Pat Jones of Youngstown; ten grandchildren; and 11 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her husband and parents, Mary Jane was preceded in death by four brothers, Wilbur, Edgar, Robert, and Charles Jones; and two sisters, Ida Mae Gerthung and Charlotte Britton.

Family and friends will be received on Wednesday from 5-7 p.m. at the funeral home.
