CAMPBELL – Maryann Miller, 78, went to be with the Lord at 9:40 a.m., May, 29, 2016, after a courageous battle with many illnesses, surrounded by her loving family.
Maryann was born on April 28, 1938, in Campbell, a daughter of George Schur and Mary (Hlohinec) Wargo.
A lifelong area resident, Maryann was a 1955 graduate of Campbell Memorial High School. She was employed by Safeway prior to her marriage and later for Daylight Cleaning Service. Maryann was a dedicated wife, mother, grandmother, and homemaker, who adored her family.
She was a longtime member of the Struthers United Methodist Church. Prior to her illness, one of Maryann’s favorite pastimes was going to Las Vegas.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her husband of over 57 years, James R. Miller, whom she married Oct. 25, 1958; three children, James Miller Jr. of Struthers, John “Jack” Miller of Campbell, and Cheryl (Jonathan) Woodward of Campbell; five grandchildren, Jonathan Woodward of Youngstown, Jared (Deanna) Woodward of Campbell, Andrew (Erin) Woodward of Campbell, Brittany Woodward of Campbell, and Jessica Miller of Columbiana; two great-grandchildren, Levi and Elias Woodward; a brother, George (Anne) Schur of Hubbard; and her stepsister, Ann “Honey” Wright of Baldwin, Mo.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her stepfather, John Wargo, who raised her; and two stepsisters, Emma and Evelyn.
Maryann will be sadly missed by everyone who knew her, but will always be in our hearts.
There will be a private service held for the family at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, with her grandson, Pastor Jared Woodward officiating.
Interment will be at St. Michael’s Byzantine Cemetery in Campbell.
Memorial tributes may take the form of contributions in Maryann’s name to St. Jude’s Children’s Research Hospital, 501 St. Jude Place, Memphis, TN 38105 or the National Kidney Foundation, P.O. Box 45099 Westlake, OH 44145.
