Mary Sokol

Mary Sokol, 93 Struthers- Mary Sokol, 93, of Hamilton Blvd. died Tuesday evening at St. Elizabeth Medical Center. Mary was born November 16, 1913 in Aliquippa, Pennsylvania a daughter of John and Agnes Salaka Bednarik. A long time resident of Struthers, Mary was an assembler for Vinylume Products in Youngstown and was a homemaker. Mary was a member of St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers, its Altar and Rosary Guild and Infant Jesus of Prague. As the secretary of the Friday Ladies Senior League, Mary loved bowling. She was also an excellent golfer and was an avid Cleveland Indians Fan. Maryâa�a��s husband Andrew Sokol whom she married September 19, 1930 died November 11, 1991. She leaves two daughters, Elaine (Ray) Vasvari of Struthers and Marion (Sam) Mazzupappa of Boardman. A loving, caring grandmother, Mary leaves two grandchildren, Atty. Raymond (Ann) Vasvari of Cleveland and Wendy (Bill) Whetstone of Philadelphia, New York. She adored her three great-grandchildren, Samantha and Alex Whetstone and Sarah Vasvari. Besides her parents and husband, Mary was preceded in death by her son, Richard Sokol, two sisters, Ann Pepe and Catherine Zagorec, and two brothers, Joseph and John Bednarik. Funeral services will be Friday, 12:30 PM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers and 1:00 PM at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church.
