Mary Alice Scarsella, 81 Youngstown- Mary Alice Scarsella, 81 of Carrington South formerly of Poland died Monday afternoon at the nursing home. Mary Alice was born January 17, 1924 in Struthers, a daughter of Ulrick and Sula Valera Bryant, originally of Long Island, Alabama. She was a homemaker and a foster mother for many children. For over 26 years Mary Alice was a waitress for various restaurants in the area. During World War II she was employed by Republic Steel Corporation as a pipe hooker and electric welder. Mary Alice was a member of the Gospel Baptist Church in Poland where she was active in the Choir Ministry and the Ladies Outreach Ministry. She leaves behind two daughters, Virginia L. Bukovi of Florida and Janet L. Rudzik of Struthers; one step-daughter Mary H. Polland of Warren; fourteen grandchildren, twenty-six great-grandchildren and three great-great-grandchildren. She was predeceased by her husband of 33 years, Arthur J. Scarsella, three brothers, William, Paul and Fred Bryant and one sister Louise Keast. Funeral services will be Thursday, 11:00 AM at the Gospel Baptist Church.
