Mary D. Salerno

Struthers- Mary D. Salerno, 81 died November 13, 2016 at St. Elizabeth Boardman Health Center. Mary was born December 20, 1934 in Youngstown, a daughter of Andrew and Julia Kochamba Klapac.
She was a 1953 graduate of Struthers High School and attended Youngstown Hospital School of Nursing becoming a certified registered nurse in 1958. She was a private duty nurse for several years before working at Diamondhead Nursing Home in North Lima. Mary was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas. She was an avid reader and enjoyed garage sales, jigsaw puzzles, and word searches.
Her husband, Arthur, whom she married Apr. 27, 1957, died June 2, 1966.
He is survived by one daughter, Diane (Carl) Kashubara of Boardman; two sons, Tom (Jackie) Salerno of Struthers and Michael Salerno of Struthers; two sisters, Ethel Stephenson of Poland and Ruth Klapac of Struthers; two brothers, Andy (Maryann) Klapac of Poland and John (Janet) Klapac of North Lima; two grandchildren, Kristen and Kelsey Kashubara; great-grandson, Anthony; and several nieces and nephews.
She was preceded in death by her parents and husband.
Services will be held Thursday at 11:00AM at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery.
Friends and family will be received Wednesday from 5-7PM and Thursday from 10:00AM-10:45AM at the funeral home.
