Lowellville
- Mary Sue Phillips, 82, of Lowellville, died Thursday evening of a stroke at St. Elizabeth Medical Center emergency room.
Mrs. Phillips was born April 12, 1927 in Struthers, a daughter of Fred and Altha Geiger Meehan. As a child her family moved to Lowellville where she lived her entire life.
She was a 1945 Lowellville High School and went to work directly out of high school as Deputy Auditor for Mahoning County Auditors Office. She retired in 1987 after 40 years of service.
Mrs. Phillips was a homemaker, an active member of St. Marks Lutheran Church in Boardman, a member of the American Legion Women's Auxiliary Post 247, Lowellville, and was a Democratic Committee woman for Mahoning County, Poland Precinct.
Besides her husband William Phillips whom she married February 20, 1965, she leaves two sisters, Margaret (Sam) LaBarba of Canton and Joann (Edward) Schultz of Sarasota, FL; one brother, Gerard (Ila) Meehan of Sarasota, OH; and numerous nieces and nephews.
Besides her parents, Mrs. Phillips was preceded in death by two brothers, Frederick and Patrick Meehan.
Services will be held Tuesday, 10:00 am at St. Marks Lutheran Church with Pastor Peter Haenftling officiating. Interment will follow at the Holy Rosary Cemetery, in Lowellville.
Friends will be received Monday from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Lowellville and Tuesday from 9:00 am until 9:45 am at church.
