Mary "Nanny" Fisher

Poland - Mary "Nanny" Fisher, 98, passed away Thursday, December 29, 2016 at the Hospice House after a short illness.

Mary was born October 25, 1918 in Lowellville, the daughter of Joseph and Katherine Leason.

Mary was a waitress for thirty years at the Hotel PICC Ohio and the Oyster House in downtown Youngstown. She loved her work, retiring early to help raise her grandchildren. Mary was known for her perogy and kolachi making skills and loved to share her recipes with friends and family. She loved spending her time being involved in her grandchildrens’ lives. She also loved her daily marathon phone calls to her two favorite nieces, Patricia DeRosa and Fran "Tootsie" Koletich and sending her grandson-in-law, James Keiper on trips to the grocery store for her.

She leaves to cherish her memory her sons, Gary (Elana) Fisher of Painesville and Samuel Fisher of Poland; seven grandchildren, Joanna Keiper, Suzanne Greenaway, Samantha (Anthony) Nappo, Robert Fisher, Wendy Jenkins, Cheri Fisher, Maximillian (Coleen) Fisher; and eleven great-grandchildren Nicholas and Gina Greenaway, Nathan and Andrew Keiper, Nina, Raegan, and Tessa Nappo, William, Robert, and Brittany Jenkins, and Sophia Fisher; and two great-great-granddaughters, Kyra and Kaylee Judy.

Besides her parents and husband, Samuel D. Fisher, she was preceded in death by her siblings, Joseph, Katherine, Michael, and Anne, and her beloved daughter-in-law, Ramonita "Rae" Fisher.

A funeral service will be held on Saturday at 11 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St., Poland, where family and friends will be received on Saturday from 9-10:45 a.m., prior to the service. Interment will follow at St. Nicholas Byzantine Cemetery in Campbell.
