Lowellville - Mary C. Conti, 98, of Lowellville, died Monday, November 1, 2010 at St. Elizabeth Health Center.
Mrs. Conti was born April 27, 1912 in the Province of Campobasso, Italy, a daughter of Joseph and Theresa Martino Viano. She came to Youngstown at the age of three and moved to Lowellville upon her marriage in 1929.
She attended school in Youngstown. Mrs. Conti worked as a baker, first for Wards Tip Top Bread and retired from Strouss' Bakery, after 40 years of service.
She was a member of Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church in Lowellville and its Ladies Guild, Our Lady of Mount Carmel Ladies Auxiliary, Lowellville Senior Citizens, Stitch n' Chat Club, and the Jolly Ten. Mrs. Conti enjoyed cooking, sewing, and traveling.
Her husband, Carmen L. Conti, whom she married April 27, 1929, died February 17, 1975. She is survived by two daughters, Madeline M. Adduch of Lowellville and Theresa Moro of Phoenix, AZ; a daughter-in-law, Celia Conti of Lowellville; two sisters, Josephine (Joseph) Purfey and Rita (Tony) Lucarell, all of Youngstown; seven grandchildren, Michelle (Tom) Banks of Scottsdale, AZ, Bonnie (John) McCaleb of Phoenix, AZ, Frank (Tammy) Moro of Sierra Vista, AZ, Mary (Chris) Morrone of Lowellville, Nicoletta (John) Wilaj of Lowellville, Gina (Gregory) Haren of Lowellville, and Lisa (John) Donofrio of Lowellville; 20 great-grandchildren; and seven great-great-grandchildren.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her son, Ralph Conti; son-in-law, Frank Adduch; sister, Rosie Conti; and two brothers, Dominic and Jimmy Viano.
A prayer service will be held Friday at 9:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Lowellville followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10 a.m. at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Church. Interment will follow at Our Lady of the Holy Rosary Cemetery.
Family and friends will be received Thursday from 5-8 p.m. at the funeral home.
