BOARDMAN-A service celebrating the life of Mary Ann Burton will be held at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, June 4, 2013 at Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market Street. She passed away Thursday at University Hospital Case Medical Center, from injuries sustained in a car accident.
Mrs. Burton was born March 7, 1939 in Martins Ferry, Ohio, a daughter of Marcus and Katherine (Gallo) Smales.
Mary Ann had a smile that could light up a room and a personality that was easily loved by all she came in contact with. The love she shared with others and her exuberant personality were both contagious and admirable. She had a steady belief that things would always work out and a wisdom beyond convention. She had a positive attitude and a mighty heart.
She loved to laugh and spend time with family and friends. She enjoyed always being on the go, gambling,spending time with her children and grandchildren and attending their many sporting events as well as school activities. She was known for her cooking and made THE best wedding soup around.
She had worked as a produce manager for various grocery stores in the Youngstown and Warren areas.
She was active with the Warren Little Panthers as a cheerleading coach and booster/fundraiser.
Her husband, Lanny R. Burton, whom she married Sept. 5, 1959, passed away Aug. 15, 2002.
She leaves her beloved mother, Katherine Santo of Spring Hill, FL.; her dear Aunt Dune (Toni Curcio); and her children, Michael (Victoria Baker) Burton, and Robert P. Burton both of Youngstown; John D. Burton and Kelly M. (Philip) Kilpatrick, both of Boardman; a sister, Amelia Jenkins of Spring Hill, FL and a brother, Frank Santo of Hernando Beach, FL. Also, her grandchildren Kristen, Philip, Lanny Kate, Keegan, Lanny Ross, John, and Jakey, as well as her great grandchild, Parker. She was also very close with many Uncles, Aunts, cousins, nephews, nieces and dear friends.
She was preceded in death by her husband and father as well as sister, Sharon Bates.
Friends may call Tuesday from 12:30 until 1:45 p.m. at the funeral home.
