Austintown - Mary Louise Boland, 91, of Austintown, died October 23, 2010 at the Hospice House.
Mrs. Boland was born November 16, 1918 in Struthers, a daughter of James and Elsie Parker Turnbull. She was raised in Struthers and moved to Austintown in 1950.
Mrs. Boland attended Struthers High School. After high school, she worked several years as a candy striper at Southside Hospital and during World War II, she was employed at a local factory building aircraft parts. After raising her son, she returned to work and was employed by Strouss Department Store.
She was a member of the Austintown Community Church, where she belonged to its Quilting Club, the Ladies Circle, and she helped in the church's Need Room. She was also a member of the Eastern Star.
Her and her husband enjoyed traveling throughout the years and she enjoyed playing cards.
Her husband, Dale T. Boland, whom she married May 10, 1941, died February 18, 2002. She is survived by her son, Dale T. Boland of Columbus; two grandchildren, Melanie and David Boland of Columbus; and numerous nieces and nephews.
In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by four sisters, Fanny Salsgiver, Gladys Damon, Maxine Zuber, and Kathryn Hurley.
A memorial service will be celebrated Saturday, November 13th at 11 a.m. at the Austintown Community Church, 242 S. Canfield-Niles Road. Interment will take place at Greenhaven Memorial Gardens in Canfield.
The family requests that memorial tributes take the form of contributions in Mrs. Boland's name to the Hospice House, 9803 Sharrott Road, Poland, Ohio 44514.
