Mary "Skeets" Louise Aronson

Poland - Mary Louise "Skeets" Aronson, 85, of Poland, died Sunday evening at her residence with her family at her side.

Mary Louise, affectionately known as Skeets, was born March 16, 1929 in Youngstown, a daughter of Bernard and Helen Larsen Heckel.

She was raised in Struthers and was a graduate of the Struthers High School Class of 1946. Skeets attended Youngstown State University and received her RN Degree from St. Luke Hospital School of Nursing in Cleveland in 1950. She worked as a Scrub Nurse for Dr. Bloomberg, various other nursing positions, and finished her 45 year career working at Southside Hospital, retiring from Forum Health in 1994.

Skeets was a faithful member of Struthers Parkside Church, formerly the Struthers Presbyterian Church, where she served as a Deacon. She volunteered her time with Hospice of the Valley and was a member of the Poland Garden Club. Skeets loved to travel, cruise, play cards, and was an AVID life-long fan of the Cleveland Indians and loved the band The Eagles. She especially enjoyed spending time doing the things she loved with friends, family, and her great-grandson, the apple of her eye, Bentley.

Her husband, Edward Aronson, whom she married September 1, 1951, died May 8, 2000; Skeets leaves her daughter, Jennifer (Randy)Ward of Columbus; two grandsons, Thomas Ian and Samuel Oliver Allen, both of Columbus; her great-grandson, Bentley Clayton Allen; niece, Susan (Edward) Boudreau of Columbus; great-nephew, Michael Corey Boudreau; and great-niece, Kristen Leigh Boudreau.

Besides her parents, in-law's, and husband, Skeets was preceded in death by her son, Norman Scott Aronson; grandson, Daniel Clayton Allen; and sister and brother-in-law, Richard and Lillian Carroll.

A Memorial service to celebrate Skeets life will be held Saturday, May 3, at 11:00 AM at the Struthers Parkside Church with Pastor James Berkebile officiating. A luncheon will follow the service. Private interment will follow at a later date at Lake Park Cemetery.

There are no calling hours.

Skeets requested in lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the building fund at Struthers Parkside Church, 110 Poland Ave. Struthers, OH 44471, in her honor.
