Poland - Martin Michael McFarland, 89, of Poland, formerly of Struthers, passed away peacefully, Thursday morning, January 26, at Hospice of the Valley Hospice House, with his dear friend at his side.
Marty was born August 27, 1922 in Youngstown, a son of Andy and Anna Szabados Bischopp.
A graduate of South High School, Marty was a Master Sergeant for the United States Army from 1942 thru 1949. He re-enlisted in the United States Army Reserve and served from 1949 until 1982. After retirement Marty enjoyed spending his time gardening, and he especially loved growing roses.
Besides his birth parents, Marty was preceded in death by his adopted father, Michael McFarland; two brothers, Jake and Andy Bischopp; and one sister, Betty Muransky.
Funeral services will be held Wednesday, 11:00 AM at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, Struthers with Deacon John Terranova officiating. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Friends will be received Wednesday from 10:00 AM to 10:45 AM at the Funeral Home.
