Martha J. Stanyard

New Middletown, Ohio - Martha J. Stanyard, 88, of New Middletown, Ohio and formerly of Beaver Falls, died Saturday morning, April 5, 2014 at the Hospice House in Poland, Ohio.
Mrs. Stanyard was born February 10, 1926 in Beaver Falls, PA, a daughter of Rudolph and Anna Newton Zuberbuhler. She was a lifelong resident of Beaver Falls, until moving to New Middletown, Ohio in 2009 to live with her daughter.
She was a graduate of Beaver Falls High School. After raising her children, Martha worked as a manager for over 20 years for the Pennsylvania Liquor Control Board. After retirement, Mrs. Stanyard dedicated much of her life to volunteer work. She volunteered for many years for the Beaver Valley Medical Center's Ladies Auxiliary, the Beaver County Association for the Blind, the Beaver Falls Salvation Army, and read to blind students at Geneva College.
Her husband, Frank M. Stanyard Sr., whom she married October 25, 1944, died in May of 1990. She is survived by her daughter, Susan L. Prater of New Middletown; son, Frank "Skip" (Cathy) Stanyard Jr. of Beaver Falls; four grandchildren, Melissa (Frank) Ieropoli of Lisbon, Thomas Faust of New Middletown, Timothy Faust of Mishawaka, IN, and Todd Faust of Gardner, KS; four great-grandchildren, Chelsea Johnson, Cassie Faust, Christopher (Abbie) George, and Taylor Ieropoli; and great-great-grandchild, Kennedy.
In addition to her parents and husband, Martha was preceded in death by her daughter, Rebecca Stanyard; two sisters, Mildred Walters and Thelma Thomas; and son-in-law, Thomas L. Prater.
There will be no calling hours or services. Arrangements are being handled by the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers, Ohio.
