Poland-Marsha Vazmina, 71, of Poland, passed away on Good Friday, March 29, 2024at St. Elizabeth Health Center-Boardman, after a 26 year battle with a Secondary Progressive M.S. and a three year battle with breast cancer.
Marsha was born September 24, 1952, in Struthers, a daughter of William Garfield and Mary Jane (Bohach) Vazmina.
She graduated from Struthers High School in 1970 and YSU in 1974 with a bachelor’s degree in education. She completed graduate studies in Remedial Reading and was certified to teach grades kindergarten through twelfth.
Upon graduation, she began substitute teaching for Poland Seminary, Springfield Local, Canfield, Hubbard, Struthers and Lowellville High Schools. Later, she became a full-time secretarial teacher at ITT Technical Institute in Youngstown. She then became an adult education instructor and Remedial Reading teacher for kindergarten through 3rd grade at E. J. Blott School in Liberty.
Changing career paths along the way, she began working for the U.S. Postal Service as an automated markup clerk in both Youngstown and Van Nuys, CA. She retired in 2007 after 26 years of service. She enjoyed baking, reading, playing Bingo, computer games, and visiting Indian Casinos. She was a member of Christ our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Church in Struthers and taught catechism at St. Nicks for several years.
She leaves to cherish her memory, her loving brother and primary caregiver Ronald W., of Poland.
She was preceded in death by her parents, William G. on August 17, 1997 and Mary Jane Vazmina on October 23, 2021.
Per Marsha’s wishes, there will be no calling hours or services.
