Marlene Ann Duran

Columbiana -Duran Marlene Ann Duran, 72, of Columbiana, passed away on Sunday, October 27, 2024, at St. Elizabeth Hospital in Youngstown.

Born 9 August, 1952 in Youngstown, Ohio. She was the daughter of the late John J. and Ann Rose (Suhar) Maskarinec.

Marlene was a graduate of Wilson High School. Afterwards she obtained her certificate in radiology from The American Registry of Radiologic Technologists. She spent most of her life working as a X-ray technician for St Elizabeth and Mercy Health Hospitals, and was known for her extraordinary care and compassion. 

On April 15, 1978, Marlene married the love of her life, John G. Duran Jr., and together they shared 42 wonderful years of marriage until his passing in 2020. John and Marlene were blessed with their sons, Erik and Scot.

She was a member of St. Jude Roman Catholic Church in Columbiana. She enjoyed spending time with friends and family, caring for her and her sons' pets, decorative crafting, gardening, playing cards, and cooking for all those she loved. Above all, she cherished her moments being a loving wife and mother. 

She is survived by her two sons, Scot Duran, of Lyndhurst, Ohio and Erik Duran, of Minot, North Dakota; brothers, Dr. John (Dr. Ann) Maskarinec, Dr. Ronald (Dolly) Maskarinec, and David (Yolanda) Maskarinec. In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her infant son, Michael John Duran.

Calling hours will be held on Thursday, November 14, 2024, from 10:00 a.m. until 10:45 a.m. at St. Jude’s Roman Catholic Parish, 180 7th St, Columbiana, OH 44408. A memorial mass will follow at 11:00 a.m.
