Mark A. Harris

New Springfield - Mark A. Harris, 69, passed away on Monday, August 26, 2024, at Caprice Health Care Center. 

Mark was born July 2, 1955 in Youngstown, OH, a son of David William and Norma Jean (Dash) Harris.

Mark was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley and graduated from Boardman High School in 1973. Following his education, Mark embarked on a career that began in the steel mills. After the closing of the mills, Mark transitioned into maintenance work at Northside Hospital and later managed several area restaurants. He finished his career as a truck driver for various companies. 

Throughout his life, Mark had a passion for sports, especially as a follower of the professional Cleveland sports teams and the Ohio State Buckeyes. He loved music and particularly enjoyed country and the sounds of the 70s. A lover of the outdoors and animals, Mark found joy in lawn work, boating, camping, and the companionship of his dog and grandpups. 

Above all, Mark was a devoted family man. He valued family time and gatherings, often playing board games, cards, and video games with his children and grandchildren. His wonderful sense of humor, generous heart, strong faith, and ability to easily make friends wherever he went, will be fondly remembered and missed by those fortunate enough to have known and loved him. 

Mark leaves to carry on his memory, his mother Jean of New Springfield; children, Duane (Karla) Harris of Cabot, AR and Jessica Harris of Boardman; two grandchildren, Olivia Harris and Cameron (Brittney) Copanic; sisters, Judy Weaver of Justin, TX, Terri (Bob) Szelazek of Petersburg, and Sandy Cain of New Middletown; brother, Gary (Bonnie) Harris of Pahrump, NV; his beloved dog, Daisy; and grandpups, Stanley, Walter, Mabel, Lucy, Koda, and Emmy. 

Mark was preceded in death by his father.

Family and friends will be received on Friday from 4:00-5:45 p.m. at the Davis-Becker Funeral Home, 8536 Market St., Boardman, where a funeral service will follow at 6:00 p.m. 

The family wishes to express their appreciation and thank Mark's Oncology Team from Mercy Health, Caprice Health Care Center, and Hospice of the Valley for their compassionate and loving care.
