Youngstown - Mark A. Thomas, 59, passed away unexpectedly on Wednesday, October 2, 2024, in the Emergency Room at Mercy Health-St. Elizabeth Boardman Hospital surrounded by his loving family.
Mark, known by his family and friends as "Animal," was born July 25, 1965 in Youngstown, Ohio, a son of Robert and Rachel (Byers) Thomas.
He graduated from Woodrow Wilson High School in Youngstown in 1984 and was a lifelong resident of the Mahoning Valley.
Mark started working at the New Music Station Night Club on the campus of Youngstown State University as a bartender and security for several years. He later worked for IGS in Youngstown for over 18 years, and for Intigral in Youngstown for 5 years, before going to GLI Pool Products in Youngstown for ten years before becoming disabled.
Mark enjoyed listening to music, attending concerts, as well as fishing. He was also a tattoo enthusiast.
Mark is survived by his mother, Rachel G. Thomas of Youngstown; his wife of 37 years, the former Shannon S. Stahara; a daughter, Kylie J. Thomas of Pittsburgh, PA; a brother, Larry Thomas of Youngstown, OH; a sister, Jackie (Bill) Burris of Struthers, OH; a niece, Ellie (Dan) Burris; three nephews, Bill Burris, RJ Thomas, and Hayes Minich; his four-legged companions, his dog, Coraline and his cats, Emo, Mooy, and Nyx.
Mark was preceded in death by his father, Robert D. Thomas.
Family and friends may call on Saturday, October 5, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 5:45 p.m. at Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring Street in Struthers. There will be a memorial service celebrating Mark's life at 6:00 p.m. at the funeral home with Jeff Johnson officiating.
