POLAND-Marion Alice Winkler, 89, of Poland, died on Friday, January 28, 2011 at the Hospice House.
She was born on April 14, 1921 in Pittsburgh, PA, a daughter of Albert and Nettie Bierman, both from Pittsburgh.
Marion was an active member of the Poland Presbyterian church, and a willing volunteer in the community. She was an accomplished pianist, who played often for the residents at the Poland Blackburn Home until her eyesight failed. In addition to her music, she enjoyed gardening and loved animals.
Marion is survived by her husband of 66 years, Marshall Harry Winkler of Poland and two children, a daughter, Janet (John) Klapac of North Lima and a son, Marshall A. (Teisha) Winkler of Poland. She has four grandchildren, two step-grandchildren, and four great-grandchildren.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her brother, Albert Bierman and a son, Lee Allen Winkler.
Family and friends may call Tuesday, February 1 from 4-5:45 p.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland, where a funeral service will follow at 6 p.m. Interment will take place at Poland Riverside Cemetery.
