Struthers - Marion Textoris, 89, a life-long resident of Struthers, died Friday morning, June 5, 2015 at Maplecrest Nursing Home.
Marion was born September 21, 1925 in Youngstown, a daughter of the late Joseph and Christine Jarvis Brosko.
A graduate of Struthers High School, Class of 1943, Marion worked as an Executive Secretary for numerous businesses in downtown Youngstown before settling down to raise her family. Indulgent wife, mother, and grandmother, Marion's greatest joy was taking care of her family and their home on Overlook Blvd., in Struthers.
While her children were in school, Marion was active in the Struthers PTA and the Band Boosters. In the early years of the Youngstown Symphony, Marion served as Treasurer. She enjoyed playing 500 and was a member of a 500 Card Club. Most recently she was a member of the "Pearls of Wisdom", alumni women of Struthers High School.
Marion was a member of St. John Lutheran Church where she taught Sunday School and was a member of the Ladies Altar Guild.
Her husband of 60 years, Melvin A. Textoris, whom she married June 4, 1949 died March 2, 2010. Marion leaves her two children, Karen Edwards and her husband Joseph of Poland and Melvin C. Textoris of Struthers; one grandson, Justin Joseph Edwards and his wife Ashley of Youngstown; two nieces, Susan (Ted) Perkins of Austintown and Deborah (Ernest) Camodeca of Ashtabula; and her sister-in-law, Marjorie Tomo of Youngstown.
A private Memorial Service will be held by her family.
From the day Marion arrived at Maplecrest Nursing and Rehabilitation, six years ago, she had experienced excellent personalized care from dedicated staff members, professional therapists, devoted nurses, knowledgeable administrators, and caring owners.
