Marion E. (Engleman) Alexander

Poland - Marion E. Alexander, 89, passed away peacefully, Monday evening, July 30, 2018 with her family at her side, at Select Specialty Hospital in Youngstown.

Marion was born April 27, 1929 in Youngstown, OH, a daughter of Howard and Tillie Steinbach Engleman.

Raised in Youngstown, Marion was a 1947 graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School. She worked as a nurses aide for St. Elizabeth Hospital and later as a janitress for Youngstown City Hall for over 25 years retiring in 1997. She was a life-long member of Faith Community Church in Youngstown.

Marion just enjoyed what everyday life had to offer. She enjoyed reading and following the Cleveland Indians. She was a tremendous baker, her specialties were peach pie, apple dumplings, chocolate chip cookies, the list goes on. A devoted mother, mother-in-law, grandmother, great-grandmother and friend, she found joy and happiness surrounding herself with family and friends. Marion was a very sweet and special lady.

Her husband, Thomas E. Alexander, whom she married October 29, 1949 died September 17, 1983. Marion leaves two daughters, Rebecca J. (David) Kountz of Poland, OH, and Laura L. (Bill) Harsh of Westfield Center, OH; one son, Timothy E. Alexander of Youngstown; one daughter-in-law, Colly C. Alexander of New Middletown, OH; Three grandchildren, Matthew (Samera) Alexander of Arlington, VA., Jennifer (Michael) Maggs of Ft Meade, MD, and Ian Alexander of Pittsburgh, PA; one great-granddaughter, Laila Alexander.

In addition to her parents and husband, Marion was preceded in death by her son, Jeffrey Thomas Alexander; and two brothers, George and Thomas Engleman.

A service celebrating Marion's life will be held Saturday, 11:00 a.m. at Faith Community Church with Pastor Michael Zabel officiating. Interment will follow at the Lake Park Cemetery.

Friends will be received Friday from 4-7 pm at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home in Poland and Saturday from 10-10:45 am at the church.
