Marilyn C. Barnhart

Struthers - Marilyn C. Barnhart, 82, died Friday afternoon, July 26, 2013 at Shepherd of the Valley in Boardman.

Mrs. Barnhart was born February 19, 1931 in Struthers, a daughter of Donald and Katie Schell Hassey.

A lifelong resident of Struthers, Marilyn was a June 1949 graduate of Struthers High School. Mrs. Barnhart was a dedicated homemaker, wife, and mother to her six children.

Marilyn was active in the Struthers P.T.A., serving as a past president of the association, while her children were in both grade school and high school. A member of Christ Lutheran Church in Struthers, Marilyn was a member and past president of the Women's Group.

Mrs. Barnhart enjoyed taking care of her family, cooking, fishing, and camping. Marilyn also loved to travel, visiting all the states except Alaska and North Dakota.

She is survived by her husband, Donald R. Barnhart, whom she married November 5, 1949; three daughters, Terry (Steve) Stephenson of Youngstown, Cathy Garlock of Lillian, AL, and Donna (Michael Carney) Barnhart of Canfield; three sons, Don (Sue) Barnhart of San Angelo, TX, Larry (Gina) Barnhart of Palmetto, FL, and Scott (Cam) Barnhart of Chantilly, VA; 14 grandchildren; and 16 great-grandchildren.

In addition to her parents, Marilyn was preceded in death by her sister, Donna Kollar; and son-in-law, David Garlock.

Services will be held Wednesday at 11 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home in Struthers.

Family and friends will be received Tuesday from 4-7 p.m. at the funeral home.

The family requests that memorial contributions may be made in Marilyn's name to Christ Lutheran Church, 250 Sexton Street, Struthers, Ohio 44471.

Marilyn's family would like to express their appreciation and thank Shepherd of the Valley for the wonderful care they gave to her over the past three years.
