Marie M. Novak

North Lima - Marie M. Novak, 97, formerly of Struthers, died Tuesday afternoon January 20, 2015 at Assumption Village in North Lima.
Mrs. Novak was born August 20, 1917 in Youngstown, a daughter of Michael and Anna Uhrin Gegus.
She was a graduate of Woodrow Wilson High School and a dedicated homemaker, who enjoyed baking and sewing. Mrs. Novak was a member of Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers and a member of its Senior Citizens and Altar and Rosary Society. While her children were attending Struthers City Schools, Mrs. Novak was active in the PTA.
Her husband, George Novak, whom she married September 14, 1940, preceded her in death on July 3, 1994. She is survived by three sons, Gerald (Mary) Novak of Struthers, Ron (Bonnie) Novak of East Palestine, and Drs. Mark (Stacey) Novak of Placerville, CA; sister, Olga Gegus of North Lima; two grandchildren, Debra (Sean) Kuner of Mentor and Krisann (Jamie) Lewis of East Palestine; and three great-grandchildren, Katelyn and Jacob Kuner and Kara Lewis.
In addition to her parents and husband, Mrs. Novak was preceded in death by her son, Michael Novak; two sisters, Margaret Gegus and Veronica Walko; and four brothers, Paul, John, Joseph, and Michael Gegus.
A prayer service will be held Saturday at 10 a.m. at the Davidson-Becker Funeral Home, 11 Spring St., Struthers, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial at 10:30 a.m. at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church. Interment will follow at Calvary Cemetery, Youngstown.
Family and friends will be received at the funeral home on Saturday from 9 a.m. until the time of the prayer service.
