Marie Helen McPhee

Marie Helen McPhee (McMullen) passed away peacefully in Charlotte, North Carolina on Tuesday March 20, 2018 after a brief illness.

She was born on December 13, 1925 in Struthers, Ohio to Clarence and Elizabeth McMullen.

Marie was a 1942 graduate of Struthers High School where she met her husband Donald L. McPhee. Marie and Don were married in 1948 and made their first home in Vets Village at Miami University while Don finished college. Don and Marie moved to Boardman, Ohio after their first son was born.  Marie remained in Boardman for the next  sixty-eight years before moving to Charlotte in December of 2017.

Marie was a homemaker most of her life. She did work for the Mahoning County Courthouse before she was married and worked as a bookkeeper for a doctor while her children were in college.

Marie enjoyed playing golf and was a member of the Mill Creek Park Golf League.  Marie also belonged to a Progressive Arts Club. She was an avid bridge player.  She loved to knit, crochet, bake and cook for her family and friends. Marie and her husband Don spent a good part of their life traveling, an activity she continued until her death.

Marie took great pride in her family and was proud to be the grandmother to seven grandchildren and two beautiful great grandchildren.

Survivors include her four children Mike McPhee (Karen) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Mary Lou Lyons (Ed) of Dublin Georgia, Ric McPhee (Shirley) and John McPhee (Bev) of Edina, Minnesota; her grandchildren Jennifer McPhee of Raleigh, North Carolina, Meghann Smith (Dave) of Charlotte, North Carolina, Lindsay Gibson (Brian) of Indian Trail, North Carolina, Michael McPhee of Denver, Colorado, Ricky McPhee (Suzanne), Kirby McPhee of Edina, Minnesota and Holly McPhee of Edina, Minnesota; great grandchildren Kamryn Gibson and Olivia Gibson both of Indian Trail, North Carolina; her sister Betty Badaski of Youngstown, Ohio; in-laws Dick Selby of Columbiana, Ohio, Paul and Phyllis Ingram of Poland, Ohio and Joanne McPhee of Overland Park, Kansas and many nieces and nephews.

Marie was preceded in death by her parents Clarence and Elizabeth McMullen, her husband Donald L. McPhee, her sister Peggy Selby, her brother-in-law Bob McPhee and her in-laws Hugh and Mildred McPhee.

Friends may call from 10: 00 AM to 11:00 AM on Monday March 26, 2018   at Davis-Becker Funeral Home 8536 Market Street Boardman, Ohio. Funeral services will be at 11:00 AM

Burial will be at Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland, Ohio immediately following the services.
