Struthers - Marie Elena (Popio) Matta, 47, died unexpectedly on Wednesday, September 27, 2017.
Marie was born June 3, 1970 in Youngstown, a daughter of Joseph and Dorothy (Bassetti) Popio.
Raised in Struthers, Marie was a 1988 graduate of Struthers High School. She previously worked as a clerk for Hertz and Avis Rental Car Rental Company, while she was living in Pittsburgh and Las Vegas.
In her free time, Marie enjoyed reading and spending time with her daughter and family.
In addition to her mother, Dorothy of Struthers, she is survived by her daughter, Elena Ann; and three brothers, Joseph Popio of Lima, Peru, Ben Popio of Boardman, and Nick Popio of Struthers.
She was preceded in death by father, Joseph, and grandparents, Vincent and Angeline Popio and Ben and Ann Bassetti.
A memorial Mass will be held on Tuesday at 11 a.m. at Christ Our Savior Parish at St. Nicholas Roman Catholic Church in Struthers with Fr. Martin Celuch officiating. Family and friends will be received on Tuesday from 10-10:45 a.m. at the church, prior to the Mass.
