Marie A. Klase

Poland-Marie Antoinette Klase (Perline), 80, passed away peacefully at home on Tuesday, March 12, 2024, surrounded by her family. She was preceded in death by her loving husband of 45 years Kenneth R. Klase, whom she married on July 13, 1963.

She was born on January 27, 1944 in Youngstown, Ohio, daughter of James and Sylvia (Coser) Perline.

Throughout her life, Marie touched the hearts of many with her warmth, kindness, and unwavering love. She will be remembered as the matriarch of her family.

Marie was a 1961 graduate of East High School. She worked as a cashier for Hills Department Store, and worked as a customer service representative for Kmart, and lastly, as a factory line worker for Gorant’s. In her free time, she found joy in attending her grandchildren’s many activities and family dinners. Whether she was playing mahjong, cards, book club, bingo, going on bus trips, bird watching or shopping, Marie found fulfillment in every moment.

Above all, Marie cherished her role as a wife, mother, grandmother, and sister. She leaves behind a legacy of love and cherished memories that will forever live on in the hearts of those who knew her.

Marie is survived by her children, Ken Klase (Kim), Linda Schengeli (Andy), Dan Klase (Lizabeth), Andrea Baer (Jim); nine grandchildren, Kenny, Alex (Jenn), Anthony, Dawn, Bianca (Corey), Daniel, Dominic, Taylor and Jimmy; two great-grandchildren, AJ and Geno; sister, Rebecca Layman (Larry); brother, James V. (Patricia) Perline, Jr.; brother-in-laws Bill Dellick and Michael Klase; sister-in-laws, Dorothy McNally and Laura Billock (Tom), as well as numerous other relatives and friends who will miss her dearly.

In addition to her husband and parents, she was preceded in death by her stepmother Philomena Perline, sisters, Betty and Gerry, brother-in-law Lee O’Hara, mother-in-law and father-in-law Kenneth W. and Eleanor M. Klase, brother-in-law William M. Klase and sister-in-law, Lucy Klase. 

Calling hours will be held on Friday, March 15, from 5:00 p.m. to 8:00 p.m. and on Saturday, from 9:00 a.m. to 9:45 a.m. at the Cunningham Becker Funeral Home, 270 N. Main St. Poland, OH. A funeral service will be held on Saturday, March 16, at 10:30 a.m. at the Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Dr, Youngstown, OH 44512. Interment will follow at Poland Riverside Cemetery. 

Though she may no longer be with us in person, Marie's spirit will continue to guide and inspire us all. May she rest in eternal peace.
