Marian Louise Spiegel, 79, a long-time native of Youngstown and Poland, died Friday morning at Virginia Hospital Center in Arlington, VA. Mrs. Spiegel was born June 11, 1929 in Corry, PA, a daughter of Philip and Mary Johnson Kotmair. She lived in the Youngstown area from the early 1930âa�a��s to 2005 until moving to Texas and recently to Virginia to be near family. A 1947 graduate of The Rayen School, Mrs. Spiegel received her nursing degree from the Youngstown Hospital Association in 1952. She was a Registered Nurse for Youngstown Hospitalâa�a��s for over 30 years, retiring in 1994. Mrs. Spiegel was a founding member of Holy Family Church in Poland and its Altar and Rosary Society. She was a member of the Catholic Nurses Association, YHA Alumni Association, and for over 60 years the Chit-Chat Card Club of Youngstown and for over 40 years the Circle Club of Poland. Her beloved husband of 29 years, Allan T. Spiegel, also a Youngstown native, died April 22, 1983. Marian and Allan were engaged at a football game between their rival high schools, Rayen and East in 1953. Besides her parents and husband, Mrs. Spiegel was preceded in death by her step-mother Bertha Kotmair and brother Edward Kotmair. She leaves one daughter, Kathleen Bentley of The Woodlands, TX; three sons and their wives, Eric and Doreen Spiegel of McLean, VA, Brian and Nancy Spiegel of Tampa, FLA, and Mark and Amy Spiegel of Alpharetta, GA; one sister, Helen Kubic of Canfield, OH; and much loved grandchildren (Jessica, Allan, Bridget, Derek, Christine, Michael, Ryan, Alex, Garret). Services will be held Monday, 9:30 a.m. at the Cunningham-Becker Funeral Home, Poland and 10:00 a.m. at Holy Family Church with Msgr. William Connell officiating. Interment will follow at the Poland Riverside Cemetery, Poland, Ohio. Family and Friends will be received Sunday from 3-6 p.m. at the funeral home.
