North Lima - Marian G. Miller, 96, died March 21, 2017 at Briarfield Manor. Mrs. Miller was born October 21, 1920 in Gustavos, OH, a daughter of Jesse and Beulah Schwietzer Bascom.
Marian graduated from The Rayen School. She went on to receive her Bachelors Degree from Youngstown College and her Masters Degree from Youngstown State University.
She was a beloved second grade teacher in the Boardman Local Schools at West Blvd. for 24 years, retiring in 1980. Marian was a member of Bethel Lutheran Church and the former Central Christian of Youngstown. She was also a member of the Women's Circle Group, OEA, Mahoning County Retired Teachers, Federated Club, and several bridge clubs in the area.
Marian loved playing the piano, singing in the church choir, reading, sewing, crossword puzzles, and playing with her grandchildren and great-grandchildren. She especially enjoyed playing bridge with her friends and family.
Her husband, James S. Miller, whom she married Dec. 18, 1941, died Dec 3, 2003.
She is survived by two daughters, Marilyn (Frank) Weaver of North Lima and Barbara (Mark) Cole of Howland; one son, Dr. James (Kathryn) Miller of Pensacola, FL; eight grandchildren; and ten great-grandchildren.
Besides her parents and husband, Marian was preceded in death by two sisters, Jean Bascom and Betty Lou Humphrey.
Services will be held Saturday at 11:00AM at Bethel Lutheran Church, 425 Crestview Ave., Boardman, where friends and family will be received prior from 10:00AM-10:45AM.
